5th INTERNATIONAL
SCHOOLS CHESS TEAMS CHAMPIONSHIP Tournaments for
school chess teams in categories: 6 -10, 10+ -13, 13+ - 17 years old. 1.Invitation Chesspread
Associates>Lagos (the organizer of Nigeria International Schools Chess
Championship League Series), and International School Chess Union have the
honour of inviting School Teams and Children from each school to participate
in the 5th NIGERIA INTERNATIONAL SCHOOLS CHESS TEAMS CHAMPIONSHIP organised
in Lagos, Nigeria from 04 October-2008 (Commencing date) to 6th June
(Closing) 2009. 2.
Participation 2.1. Each school
may enter an unlimited number of school teams and children. Team composition for School Team Tournament is four pupils with two reserve players from the same school and in the same age’s group; any combination of boys and girls is
possible. 2.3.
Entitled to participate are players (boys & girls) who shall not have
reached the age:
- Of 10, by 1st January 2008 (date of Birth - January
1st, 1998 and after) - School Tournament Under 10;
- Of 12, by 1st January 2008 (date of Birth – January
1st, 1996 and after) – School Tournament Under 13;
- Of 17, by 1st January 2008 (date of Birth – January
1st, 1992 and after) – School Tournament Under 17. 2.4. Age of each
participant of the Children individual section has corresponded to point 2.5
of these regulations. 3.
Registration. 3.1 Entry forms
must be filled by the schools and returned to the Organizing Committee not
later than September 21st 2008. The form can be send to the following
mailboxes: - 3.2 The complete
registration form must include the surname/s, first name/s, and title, of
each player. It must also include the name and telephone/e-mail of the school
representative (coach/teacher). 4.Playing schedule:
7. Rules and
regulations The Team and
individual section championships are different tournaments. Both tournaments
will be played according to the Swiss System in 9 rounds. Rate of play will
be according to FIDE regulations. The time rate should be 90
minutes for the first 40 moves followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the
game with an addition of 30 seconds per move starting from move 1. Prizes – Awards 8.1. The first
team-winner in each age category of School Team Tournament is the Nigeria
International Schools Team Champion for 2009. NISCCLE shall
award the title of Candidate Master to each player of the winning team,
subject to the individual achieving 50% from games played. 8.2. The first
individual section winner is the schools children individual Champion for
2008. award diploma to each player of the winning
individual section. 8.3. Team-winners
of the First, Second and Third places in each age category and the members of
the teams will be awarded Gold, Silver and Bronze medals, Diplomas and
Special Trophies. The individual section - winners of the First, Second and Third places and the members of the clubs will be awarded Gold, Silver and
Bronze medals, Diplomas and Special Trophies. Material prizes
